Ports, Past and Present Exhibition Launch and Film Screenings
Location: The Chq Building, North Wall Quay
Date: Tuesday 16th August, 6pm-7pm
EPIC is delighted to welcome Ports, Past and Present for a wonderful week of events to celebrate Ireland’s rich port heritage.
Join us at the Liffey Corner between 6 and 8pm for a celebration of 12 creative commissions, ranging from poetry and story-collecting, to radio script, sculpture and ceramics, animation, photography and film. Combining thought-provoking words and images, these works reflect the richness of life on, beneath and beside the waves through time. The artists involved in the exhibition are: Rua Barron, David Begley, Zillah Bowes, Gillian Brownson, Kathy D’Arcy, Jon Gower, Robert Jakes, Julie Merriman, Peter Murphy, Augustine O’Donoghue, Marged Pendrell, Hannah Power, Peter Stevenson and Jacob Whittaker.
A buffet-style reception will be followed by spoken word performances by Peter Murphy and Gary Brown, and by showings of short creative and documentary films.
The Ports, Past and Present project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Cooperation programme.
